about
Written and recorded at home in Atlanta a little over a year ago when things were a little worse than they are now. Are our pandemic thoughts, feelings, and observations from October 2020 still relevant? Who knows. I hope we haven't dated ourselves.
Since Mae and I live in different cities, it's been tough to get together and record a proper version of this song for obvious reasons, and even tougher to complete a proper second album. So enjoy this scratchy little demo while we scheme LP2, tentatively titled To Live And Die In LBI (title approval pending from Lifter Puller).
Fingers crossed for 2022!
lyrics
I'm not brushing my teeth as much as I should
Will furniture polish turn enamel to wood?
Wanna start another podcast, but
I think she'd leave me for good
Seems like all of my friends are losing their dads
100 pushups a day, but
I'm still getting fat
She says "You're 36, not 22, Gramps.
You've gotta start doing laps"
We're running out of things to lose
I've got the quarantine, quarantine, quarantine,
Quarantine Blues
Which leads into this trend of putting the word "blues" in songs that aren't actually blues songs
Like "Subterranean Homesick Blues, "Higgs Boson Blues," "Desert Band-Name Blues."
That last one's the last song from our last album of our last band.
I miss those guys.
Oh shit, here we go.
Try to find joy in honey on toast
Try to ignore all these Medium posts
Adam Schlesinger, goddamn it, man
Your death hit me the most
Maybe it's 'cause you're also from NJ
Maybe Heaven is just a Utopia Parkway
When I woke up to the news,
I had to take a sick day
We're running out of things to lose
I've got the quarantine, quarantine, quarantine,
Quarantine Blues
We're running out of things to lose
I've got the quarantine, Listerine, fuck hydroxychloroquine, Ghosteen, Halloween, mispronouncing betadine blues
The quarantine blues
The quarantine blues
The quarantine...
Ah, you know what? I'm not even gonna say it.
'Cause we're punks!
It's supposed to be a punk song.
